Moroccan Elegance

While browsing the web this past weekend, I stumbled upon this amazing website that sells Moroccan furniture and accessories from Zoco Home based in Helsinki.  I am a huge fan of Moroccan style, it's elegant, exotic and calming.

In the last few years Moroccan style has gone global and become a powerful trend for big companies like Tiffany's, West Elm and Anthropology to mention a few.

For years it had been a dream of mine to travel to Marrakesh, browse the souks and get lost in the medina.  My dream became reality last year when I travelled to Morocco after completing a contract in Sweden. Sweden is closer to Morocco then from Vancouver, So it was a no brainer when deciding on a destination for travel before heading back home.  
I came prepared ahead of time with a list of articles to purchase like: hand-hammered metal vintage trays and bowls, silver lanterns, leather poufs and slippers as well as a wedding blanket and pillow cover.  The medina is filled with venders selling similar or sometimes the same articles, Which for someone like me makes it hard to choose who to buy from. Luckily, I had time to browse first before purchasing.  I clearly wasn't thinking and forgot about prayer times and later found these venders to be closed. Needless to say, I lost out on a couple items on the list. Fortunately, we have Zoco Home who sells good quality and well selected modern elegant pieces incase you can't make the trip to Marrakech. The best part is they ship worldwide too!

I still haven't acquired the hand-hammered vintage tray yet, but for the meantime IKEA sells a great clean modern version from their SITTNING limited edition collection.
